I just visited Judy and her husband Mark at their home near Asheville NC, and after Judy set up the Solo and the SoLong 6 for me, I bought the SoLong 6. I am a big guy(6'2" 295#) and I was amazed at how much room the SoLong had in it! I seriously think you could fit two normal sized people in it easily. Thanks Judy!!Mtnbobnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079470994459135415.post-62626931933235470642011-05-27T13:29:06.352-04:002011-05-27T13:29:06.352-04:00@82.jake - Can't argue with that. Joe does a nice job and I've been happy with 100% of the items he's sent my way, but HMG seems to offer a bit of a professional/engineering edge when it comes to craftsmanship.Jolly Green Gianthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02784130095157180086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079470994459135415.post-55231509028607593482011-05-27T12:25:13.046-04:002011-05-27T12:25:13.046-04:00I'm not sure comparing the Zpacks Blast with t...I'm not sure comparing the Zpacks Blast with the HMG Windrider is a fair comparison. I'm sure the Windrider is more durable, but it's also more than a pound heavier. They seem to be aimed at different audiences.82.jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02635198798110766819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079470994459135415.post-6366118295955344872011-05-27T10:41:07.809-04:002011-05-27T10:41:07.809-04:00@ Philip - The cost of cuben can't be avoided ...@ Philip - The cost of cuben can't be avoided and really is the make-or-break decision maker which is unfortunate. Manufacturers are paying a lot for it too, so there may be no end in sight. For me, the fact that it is waterproof and doesn't stretch is huge. The number of times these two issues reared their ugly head with me when using silnylon is incalculable. I think the thing I Jolly Green Gianthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02784130095157180086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079470994459135415.post-5774875382478855072011-05-27T10:25:51.515-04:002011-05-27T10:25:51.515-04:00I have also been questioning the rush to cuben fib...I have also been questioning the rush to cuben fiber. The price increase is just appalling, but I'm also wondering about the inevitable shakeout that is going to occur between all of the cottage manufacturers who've entered the (cuben) shelter space lately. Up to now there have only been a few tent and shelter makers in the tiny lightweight backpacking market. I know a few guys who thru-hiked the AT with it and swear by it. I guess to me, I like the flexiblity of having a jacket with zippers which I can manipulate for comfort. I've never been too beat up by a wet pack requring something like the Packa to cover it. The 2 products that caught my eye were The Packa and the Loki jackets. I love the concept of both those product lines.<br />I will be interested in seeing reviews on the nPowerPeg, it is a very good concept but I don't know if there will ever be a place forJonathonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17822868554050396650noreply@blogger.com
